So far, when using the repeatable section you could add a counter to the rows, by switching on the “Show item number” option in the Section settings. This number would then be displayed in the top left corner of each item row. (and its style can be changed but its position is kind of fixed).
This is very handy, however, if you wanted to use this counter as a variable for further actions, like to sum up the table rows for example - it could not be done.
This is why we’ve added the option to insert a row counter using the Calculated field... "This" and a user named David Adams, who bugged us about it :-) - so thanks david!
This method has two major advantages over the “Show item number”:
1- This way you can place the line number anywhere you like inside the section row.
2- Once you insert a calculated element into the section row (for the counter), you can also use another calculated field outside of the section to sum up the total number of rows.
