How can I optimize your Salesforce integration and load data faster into the form?

Last updated Oct 29 2018

Creating a Salesforce form with FormTitan means that you can easily draw data from Salesforce objects as well as update records in Salesforce. There are, however, a few Tips we can give you to optimize your integration:

1- Draw your Picklists from Salesforce
Multi selection elements with Salesforce picklist can be added to your form in different ways:
- You can create a static item list in your form. for example use a dropdown element and copy its choices from the Salesforce picklist.
- You can get the Picklist items straight from Salesforce.
Getting the Picklist straight from SF is the option we recommend. It's easier and takes less time to set up. Also if the Picklist is changed in Salesforce you don't have to do anything - you will automatically have your list updated in the form.

2- Use Cache
In FormTitan the data from Salesforce is drawn by default 'on the fly', in real-time, which is great because the data you pull is always up-to-date.
However, having data drawn each time a get action is executed may be meaningless if the data you are pulling is hardly ever updated.
So, if you are not updating your Picklists and Objects in Salesforce on a regular basis you should consider  have them loaded from your Cache, which means they will load faster. Read how to use the Meta Caching option.

3- Refresh cache
If changes are made to your Picklists or objects in Salesforce while you are using the Cache option (from the previous item) - you will, of course,
not see these updates reflected in your data. But do not worry, all you have to do is click on the 'Refresh' icon and the changes will update and be saved to your Cache.

4- Get your Picklist translation from Salesforce
Picklists in Salesforce are in English, however you can have them translated inside Salesforce to your own language if needed.
consequently, when you create your form in FormTitan and have it Get your picklists, you will probably want to draw them in their translated version. Read how to Get your translated picklists from Salesforce
