The Word composer layout

Last updated Apr 12 2020

The Word composer layout contains 3 main areas:
1- Composer menu in the ribbon and  right click menu
2- Sidebar with 3 tabs
3- Word canvas

1. Composer menu

In addition to the FormTitan logo located in the ribbon (which is used to open the composer sidebar), there are also 7 other icons you can use to perform the following actions:
Insert / Edit Field
- Insert / Edit Table
- Insert / Edit Section
- Insert / Edit Condition
- Insert / Edit Formula
- Insert / Edit Image
- Watermark

* These same actions can be performed from a secondary menu using right click.

2. Side bar

The composer side bar opens on the right when the FormTitan logo in the ribbon is clicked on.
Loggin in is required and can be done with a FormTitan user or with a Salesforce user.

This panel contains 3 tabs which represent the steps you need to take when working with the composer: Build, preview, publish.
- First tab: Build
This tab represents the first phase of working with the composer, which is to create the template. That is why it contains only instructions.
You need to build your layout, fix your styles and and insert the FormTitan elements to populate data from Salesforce: fields, Tables, Sections, Conditions and formulas.

- Second tab: Preview
In this tab you can now test the template you built with data from Salesforce.
- The panel displays the Salesforce objects you've used in your template.
- You can then set a filter for each object, to configure which part of the data you would like to draw from Salesforce.
- And finally pressing on the 'Preview' button will generate the document with the data in it.
* Setting a filter is not mandatory, so if it is not configured before pressing on ‘Preview’ button then the first Salesforce records will be drawn by default for the preview (first according to their creation date).

- Third tab: Publish
This tab is used to attach the template to a specific FormTitan form so that documents will be automatically generated based on it. The document generation can be triggered by form submission, Salesforce button or a SF outbound message.

3. Word canvas

This is the area where you create the document. When you insert a FormTitan elements into your Word document - there is no need for any syntax formatting or coding - it's all done in clicks. and the element you insert is displayed on canvas between two tags.
